LOCAL CAT DECLARES SIBLINGS “THE BEST” AFTER BIRTHDAY CAKE RESCUE

CANVAS & CHORDS STREETS — A local cat celebrated his fifth birthday Sunday with presents, new balls and an unexpected act of kindness from what he now describes as “the best brother and sister ever.”
The celebration began with a wrapped present from BK and Luna, which this reporter correctly identified as food before opening it.

BK has suggested that knowing it was a birthday present may have made the investigation easier. This reporter disagrees.

The birthday haul also included several new balls, an important addition to a collection that is used daily and can never contain too many balls.
The celebration appeared to hit a setback when the birthday cat asked about cake. BK and Luna reminded him that he had already eaten two birthday cakes this year—one belonging to BK and another belonging to Luna.
For a brief period, there appeared to be no cake forthcoming.
Then, in a stunning act of sibling generosity, BK and Luna produced an emergency cake made entirely from cat food and topped with a birthday candle.

“This is the best birthday ever,” Ziggy said at the scene.
The cake was reportedly excellent.
When asked for his final assessment of the day, Ziggy credited his siblings with turning a potentially cakeless birthday into his best one yet.
“They’re the best brother and sister ever,” he said.

At press time, Ziggy was five years old, very happy, and believed to be playing with one of his new balls.
