META AI THINKS HUMANS ARE STUPID

Creative Assistant recommends magnifying glass after apparently losing faith in basic human inference

CANVAS & CHORDS STREETS — Questions are being raised about Meta AI’s confidence in the human population after the platform suggested that readers may be unable to recognize a detective unless provided with a magnifying glass.

The controversy began following Meta’s analysis of Birthday Detective, a Looney & The Coons comic featuring Ziggy investigating his birthday present.

Despite the comic being titled Birthday Detective and depicting what sources describe as “a cat investigating his birthday present,” Meta advised that the detective theme may not be fully clear.

Its proposed solution: a magnifying glass.

The recommendation immediately raised concerns over exactly how much assistance Meta believes the average human requires to understand context.

When informed that the cat was, in fact, investigating his birthday present—and that the concept was clear to humans, Meta AI declined further comment.

“I can’t help with that.”

At press time, it remains unclear whether Meta was unable to help or simply unwilling to continue discussions after learning that humans possess basic reasoning skills.

L&TC Responds

Luna questioned the recommendation.

“They knew he was investigating something, right?” she asked.

BK was less surprised.

“Facebook once told us to target the 65+ crowd. We’ve been through this before.”

Ziggy could not be reached for comment. He was reportedly still investigating his birthday present without a magnifying glass.

A History of Questionable Advice

This is not the first time Meta’s recommendations have caused confusion at Looney & The Coons.

Earlier this year, Facebook suggested tailoring L&TC’s content toward its 65+ audience after the demographic generated the page’s highest reach, despite ranking only fourth in click-through rate.

The resulting incident has since become known internally as “When You Take Facebook’s Advice Too Seriously.”

Experts now fear Meta may issue additional recommendations designed to make ordinary concepts easier for humans to understand.

Possible future guidance could include labeling doors “DOOR,” adding arrows to punchlines, and placing a large red circle around Ziggy whenever he is the subject of a comic.

The Daily Mew will continue monitoring the situation.

A magnifying glass has been ordered just in case. 🔎
